taper glas series
taper is a series of formally cognate hand-blown drinking glasses and a matching carafe for danish furnishing house Bolia. The aim was to create a process for enabling a variety of shapes through simple methods and minimal technical effort.
The four different drinking glas shapes produced rely upon the same basic mould. Through inlaid discs a machined wooden mould can be easily modified, shortening the tapered lower part of the cavity. Likewise the moulding blanks, which are cylindrical towards the top, can be cut at different extents. In this way vessels with varying bottom and overall heights can be manufactured.
